Week 3 Blog
Chapter four of How People Learn: Processes That Support Learning outlines three major points when discussing how people orchestrate their own learning: metacognition, executive function, and self-regulation (National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, 2018). Each of these domains and how they interplay ties in with Gura's Innovation Process found in Chapter 4 of the text in that higher levels of thinking are required to execute this process (Gura, 2016). The ITSE standard 1.1.a goes right along with the idea of self-regulation described in chapter four of How People Learn as it involves students articulating and setting personal learning goals (International Society of Technology in Education, 2023).

Your Infographic looks so great! I do not know how much of that design was already in the template, but it's perfect! Did you find Canva to be a resource you would use again? It is not something I had heard of until now, but was very happy to find it available 100% free for Educators. I also read chapter four of the Gura text and what I had grasped from it was about deep learning needing to be a choice. He showed ways to make learning more personal for the students so that they could take ownership of their education, and I really liked that. The concept you chose to highlight is great too because it highlights the innovative process; which is something students must be able to do in order to achieve deeper meaning with their learning.
ReplyDeleteNicole, thank you for your comment! Yes, I have used Canva for years and will continue to use it. I'm a theatre educator so it is great for program designs, posters, etc. It is so easy to use and has a very large library of graphics and templates.
DeleteVery nicely done. I love how the infographic is eye-catching and the words are succinct. Great job
ReplyDeleteYour infographic is easy to read and very appealing to an audience that is looking for ways to help students orchestrate their own learning.
ReplyDeleteThe main and most prominent thing I can say about this here is how clear, concise, and correct you are with the information provided. No extra fluff needed; just get straight to the point and answer what you need to. Also a huge fan of your info graphic Shane. I like how informative yet not overwhelming it is to communicate your key points from the chapter. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI love the info-graphic! I did not use Canva but based on yours and others, I think I will definitely start using Canva! I feel like my response was also very wordy I love how you summed everything up so simple yet effective.
ReplyDeleteGreat work on the infographic and summary of our readings for the week! I think your infographic was very eye-catching and easy to understand. I also think you do a great job at being succinct in regard to pointing out and summarizing the main points from the chapters each week. Well done!
